LONDON is calling for four players from Reading Raiders Rugby League Club after they were selected for regional trials this Saturday (19).

Andy Parr, John Boucher, Dan Neal and Josh Bull will head east to the home of semi-professional side, London Skolars, to try and win selection for the London & South East regional squad.

Clubs in the London & South East amateur structure were invited to nominate players for the trial based on a set of criteria which challenged club officials to highlight how they had stood out this season.

Raiders captain, Parr, and vice-captain, Boucher, have led the team on and off the pitch all season, and had great seasons at prop and scrum-half respectively. Neal was the club’s joint top try-scorer this season and won numerous man of the match awards while Bull stood out in every game he played for Reading, running hard and showing his appetite to tackle anyone in his vicinity.

Raiders Chairman, Andrew Belt, said: “We said at the start of the season that we would do all we could as a club to get players involved with the regional set-up.

“All four players richly deserve their opportunity and I hope they all get selected to play for what should be the strongest regional team in the south.”

The London & South East regional side will face their counterparts from the East, West and Midlands on the first three weekends in September, with the top two regions facing off in the Grand Final on 24 September.
